If you’re on this page, you’re likely one of my students either in lectures, tutorials, or thesis/PhD advising. Welcome!

What I’m looking for

I look for two things in student researchers: (1) curiosity, and (2) tenacity.

Every student has a unique background and set of circumstances, and how curiosity and tenacity are shown through personal statements/proposals/CVs depends on each applicant. Unique privileges and circumstances are different contributors to one’s past success, and when reviewing prospective students’ application materials I find it important to take those into account for building a more inclusive community.

That being said, all successful students should have or be willing to build strong communication and writing skills, as well as basic scripting/coding and data analysis skills – regardless of which discipline(s) you may have come from. I’m here to help you grow in all those areas, but it helps immensely to have a strong foundation to begin with.

Open opportunities

Note that at present, I am only accepting thesis supervisees or visiting students for the 2024-2025 cycle.

External collaboration/advising without funding commitment (incl. Ph.D. committee requests)

If you’ve got your own funding and would like to work together, let me know up-front what you expect from our working relationship, the project details and goals, a desired timeline, and what expertise you need from me. The more information you provide, the quicker I can determine whether I can be of help or to direct you to other excellent researchers who may suit your needs better.

Undergraduate students

Undergraduate honors theses (MaRBLe students)

For the 2025-2026 cycle, I will likely be seeking MaRBLe students for a to-be-proposed project. Please check back in Spring 2025 for more details.
